Dice Mage 2 was the result of a fairly quick and rowdy song writing process. The developers needed some energetic music and we toyed around with the concept of one track that has three stems that play through out the majority of the game. I wrote the battle theme first, but then quickly realized that the map song was going to have to be a "map" song that was essentially constructed out of the song structure of a battle song. It was a fun challenge to try and envision map music under very un-map music like conditions.
But the results are very fun in game. You can't quite get the same effect in soundtrack form, but just know that the Battle and the Map are all based on the exact same timing and chord progressions seen through very different genres.
